Margaret has been practicing Clinical and Health Psychology for around 12 years. She currently works within the public system, travelling to and from rural and remote areas, and in private practice in Townsville.
Margaret's specific area of focus is on motivating people to learn ways to improve their physical and emotional health and to alter habit forming behaviours in order to improve health and well being and overall quality of life. Margaret works within a multidisciplinary team to help and assist people to work towards achieving their weight loss goals by offering understanding and assistance in relation to making lifestyle changes, setting realistic goals for behaviour change, and to long term weight loss success. Margaret's role is also to provide assistance and support to people who have problems with stress, anxiety and depression and to learn alternative ways of coping with disordered eating patterns.
Over the last two decades a considerable amount of research has been done concerning the significance of exercise interventions in the treatment of obesity.
With this in mind Dale Agnew designed Synergy Health and Fitness Solutions to specifically target chronic disease and obesity amongst mature aged populations. The practice aims to provide a very non threatening environment with highly motivated and qualified staff who will work closely with you to help you achieve your personal goals, a healthier lifestyle and ultimately a new you.
The degree qualified staff are experienced in dealing with clinical presentations such as those who have undergone bariatric surgery . We understand that partaking in exercise for the first time or even revisiting exercise can be a daunting task, so we pride ourselves on making this transition easy and enjoyable for you. The beauty of exercise is that it can be wrapped up and presented in many different ways and at Synergy we have a creative approach to exercise that will see your specific medical needs met whilst also achieving your personal goals.
The difference is that the team won't leave you to your own devices after your first session- every session is fully supervised and led by an Exercise Physiologist.
